nah it turned out to be basically what tg already posted about the amnesty and the lawsuits blah blah no anti-american spin or filesharing in general ... it had nothing about how it affects NZ either

I read today that someone here in town was named in that lawsuit. He only had downlaoded 800 songs and he blamed his kids and said he is never on the pc. HMMMMMMM 800 songs... [img]graemlins/thinking.gif[/img] hmmmmmmmmmm

That's really not that many...

cristi told me the other day that some 12 year old got sued over this issue, for like 2000 dollars....

and yea, 800 songs is a drop in the bucket....ain't that right EK3?

i'm not going to wish that upon him, for it is because of EK3 that i have not had to purchase a CD for the last 5 years or so....(with the exception of those cd's that I absolutely had to have)

I'm not wishing it upon him, however, I am just stating that going by the law, EK3 should be expecting to be the poster child of illegal downloads.

However, I have to question how the RIAA targets which people to pick. Is it just those that have all those songs in their current shared folder?

EK3's CD system may have been the ingenious plot that saved his life.

from what i have heard it is a completely random type deal....one day it could be a middle aged man who just downloaded his first song, the next day it could be a young college student, with 200 gig of downloaded files on his personal super computer.

that is very interesting to know how they pick their victims and how they determine if they are going to sue and for how much

with the 12 year old, i read on yahoo that the mom contacted the RIAA after the lawsuit. the $2000 was a settelment...not what the lawsuit was for.

who are they going after though? the ones sharing the files or the ones downloading them?

regardless....it is all just scare tactics. i've already come up with the perfect defense anyways.

Everyone would make fun of me and call it stupid.

It could only be used if they were suing you for sharing the files...not downloading new ones.

It's a simple defense really....just argue how your files are yours and its no different than having a CD out loose somewhere. If someone happens to come by and make a copy of it whe....bah....this defense is stupid.

Speaking of which, my mom has jury duty today. She had it a few weeks ago. I wanna be on a jury. [img]frown.gif[/img]
